Event Planning

When planning an event, you need professionals who are knowledgeable about media placement, community relations, publicity & advertisement, sponsorships, entertainment, and how to produce a well-coordinated timely affair.

Since Southern Flava’s inception, it has been an integral part in planning major events in Tennessee and Louisiana.  As a subcontractor for TRUST Marketing, Inc., Southern Flava has helped in every aspect of the National Civil Rights Museum’s Freedom Award since 2000 from coordinating communications with its corporate sponsors to assisting in the selection of music, to seeking narrators from amongst national celebrities to stage managing the awards ceremony and directing the banquet.  During this time, the Freedom Award has honored President Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey, and Bono, to name a few.

The Renaissance Gala is a 10-year-old fundraiser for the HBCU LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis.  In conjunction with TRUST, Southern Flava has managed and planned every aspect of this annual event from negotiating contracts with national artists such as Kirk Whalum, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Bonnie Rait to Con Funk Shun.  When Southern University’s College of Business in Louisiana asked for help in planning their annual Gala on the Bluff, Southern Flava was asked to assist TRUST Marketing to help brand the event and has been involved in every step of the gala since its inception.  When the National Association of Black Female Executives decided to launch the Memphis Network, SFI was there to help.
